Cross Country Plant Relocation

Project Overview
AMS managed a large-scale plant relocation from Klamath Falls, Oregon to Grinnell, Iowa, along with additional destinations across the United States. The project required full coordination of disassembly, loading, transportation, and reinstallation across multiple states under tight timelines.
The Challenge
This project demanded precise logistics coordination, cross-team collaboration, and constant communication with plant managers to ensure equipment was moved and received on schedule. With multiple shipments, critical machinery, and strict timelines, the success of the project depended on timing every phase correctly while maintaining control across long distances.
Our Approach
AMS deployed a “pitch and catch” strategy, with a crew in Oregon handling disassembly and loading, and a receiving crew in Grinnell managing offloading and placement. Our team transported a 60/80 Versa-Lift to Oregon, which was then used to load three presses before following the shipments to Iowa, where the same machine was used for offloading.
Throughout the project, AMS coordinated transportation, sequencing, and communication between all parties involved. When real-time challenges required adjustments to the original plan, our team adapted quickly to maintain progress without disruption.
The Result
The entire relocation was completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule, meeting all project expectations and timelines. AMS’s ability to coordinate across multiple locations, adapt to changing conditions, and execute with precision ensured a successful outcome from start to finish.
